West Indies' legendary batting all-rounder Kieron Pollard had a memorable outing this evening, as he played a quick-fire cameo for MI Emirates in their ongoing ILT20 encounter against Desert Vipers. Coming at number five, Pollard smashed three massive sixes, contributing 36 runs to MI's total.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, MI Emirates had a solid start, with Kusal Perera and Muhammad Waseem adding 48 runs for the first wicket. However, the Vipers made a remarkable comeback in the game, getting wickets at regular intervals.
Known for his ability to perform under pressure, Kieron Pollard proved his worth for the MI franchise yet again, ensuring a respectable total for them with a belligerent cameo. The West Indian power-hitter took on Wanindu Hasaranga, hitting him for a massive six over the mid wicket, before effortlessly dispatching one of Lockie Ferguson's full-length deliveries into the long-on stand for another six.
Pollard Power Propels MI Emirates To 159
Although Pollard couldn't bring up a half-century, his power-packed cameo propelled the Emirates to 159 in 20 overs. Kusal Perera contributed 33 runs at the top order, while Waseem, Banton and Pooran fell cheaply.
Apart from Pollard, his fellow countryman Romario Shepherd also played a useful knock, scoring 16 runs off eight balls with two sixes. MI Emirates are placed second with one win in two games and might dethrone Desert Vipers if they emerge victorious tonight.
