Kusal Perera slams David Payne (Source:@ILT20Official/X.com)
Mohammad Amir is a quality bowler and there is no doubting that. He played for Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2024 but has decided to leave international cricket again. The pacer is still playing T20 leagues though and is going strong, and started off the ongoing ILT20 with decent performances.
However, Desert Vipers management decided to drop their star pacer for the third game, bring in David Payne as a tactical change. The move though did not work with the new ball as the English cricketer was smashed for three boundaries in the fourth over of the game. It was Kusal Perera who punished the left-arm pacer, the first boundary was a flick towards square leg as Payne bowled a full delivery on the pads.
Perera Shows His Class In The Powerplay
The second hit came on the fifth delivery of the over and it was again a fullish delivery, this time on off. Perera slogged it nicely towards deep mid-wicket for a boundary. On the next delivery, Payne bowled a length delivery, outside off and the Sri Lankan batter smashed it down the ground for another four.
Perera was looking good at that time for a lot more, but somehow could not keep the momentum going and ended up losing his wicket for 33 in the 10th over. After his wicket, MI Emirates lost few more wickets and it was Kieron Pollard who brought them back on track with some vintage hitting at the backend.
