The Trinbago Knight Riders and the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots clashed in a crucial match of the CPL 2024 at the Warner Park Stadium in St. Kitts. The Patriots, having won the toss, chose to field first against the Knight Riders.

The Knight Riders lost their openers within the first six overs but maintained a great scoring rate despite that. The momentum they gained early in the innings helped the middle-order batters bat freely and propel the team towards a formidable total.

Patriots gave three lives to Keacy Carty

Nicholas Pooran emerged as the game-changer for the Knight Riders, unleashing a destructive innings. The West Indian wicketkeeper-batsman's blistering 97 off 43 balls, studded with seven fours and nine towering sixes, significantly bolstered the team's total.

While Pooran played the central role, Keacy Carty supported him and scored 73 runs off 35 deliveries. His knock had nine fours and three sixes. However, Karty's knock would have been cut short if the Patriots had held onto the chances that came their way. They dropped the right-handed batter thrice during the innings, and that played a crucial role in the Knights reaching the massive total of 250/4 in their 20 overs.

Carty dropped an each catch of Tristan Stubbs

Keacy returned this favour to the Patriots during their chase. Carty dropped an easy catch of Tristan Stubbs during the 12th over of the second innings at deep mid-wicket. Waqar Salamkehil bowled a full delivery at the leg stump. Stubbs cleared his front leg and swatted the ball towards deep mid-wicket. However, his connection was not right, and the ball travelled into the laps of Carty. However, the latter could not hold onto the chance, allowing Stubbs to bat longer in the middle.

When Terrance Hinds dismissed Stubbs in the 15th over, Carty would have been the most relieved man on the ground as his dropped chance cost his team only a couple of runs.

Coming back to the game, the Patriots managed to get to 206/8 in their chase of 251. Thus, the Knight Riders won the match by 44 runs and started their CPL 2024 campaign on a strong note.
