The Oval Invincibles are taking on the London Spirit in the 26th match of The Women's Hundred 2024. This game is being played at the Kennington Oval in London. 

This is an important clash for the two teams as they have both managed to win three of their six games and currently occupy the third and fourth spot in the points table separated by net run rate. The two points available in this game is absolutely necessary for the teams to solidify their claim for the play-offs. 

After being put to bat, the London Spirit would have hoped for a good start from their openers, Meg Lanning and Georgia Redmayne. The expectations were particularly high on the experienced campaigner and the hero of many a crucial battles, Meg Lanning. 


Marizanne Kapp traps Meg Lanning for a bronze duck

The Oval Invincibles, on the other hand, had Marizanne Kapp in their arsenal who is known for her exploits with the new ball. In this 'Battle of the Titans' it was the South African all-rounder, who got the better of the legendary Australian batter. 

On the first delivery of the second set, Kapp bowled a vicious in-swinger that apparently beat Lanning's drive and went through the gap between that bat and the pad. The Invincibles went up in an appeal for the leg before, however, the umpire was unmoved. The bowling team took the review and the replays showed that the ball clipped the front pads on its way and it turned to be a master stroke to take the review. The early departure of Meg Lanning for a bronze duck put the Spirit under pressure, which will take some doing to recover from.
