Australia's Josh Hazlewood dismissed Joe Root with an unplayable delivery on day 2 of the ongoing fourth Ashes Test in Manchester. Root was in great touch and looked set to score another Test match century.

The dismissal occurred in the very first delivery of the 62nd over of England's first innings. Bowling over the wicket, Hazlewood pitched this one on the back of the length, just outside the off-stump line, which eventually stayed low and went rolling under Root's bat to hit on the base of the middle stump.

Root, standing on the back foot, could not have done anything about it. It took something out of the box like this to put an end to such a superb inning from the former England captain. Root could not believe his luck as he had to walk back for a well-made 84.

Noticeably, the uneven bounce from the surface would definitely gain some attention after this Joe Root dismissal. Batting will become difficult as the game progresses, and that is why England, who will have to bat last, will be eyeing to get a hefty first-innings lead.

Earlier, day 2 started with James Anderson taking a wicket in the first delivery of the day's play. Australia went on to get bowled out for 317 in their first innings, and Chris Woakes claimed his first five-wicket haul against Australia in Test.

In reply, England got off to a flying start as Zak Crawley was at his best and scored a swashbuckling 189 off 182. Moeen Ali and Joe Root scored half-centuries as England successfully went past Australia's first innings score inside 55 overs.

At stumps on day 2, the hosts finished on 384 for four, with Harry Brook and Ben Stokes batting on 14* and 24*, respectively.
