The fourth Ashes Test between England and Australia is Scheduled to take place on the 19th of july at the Old Trafford stadium in Manchester. We had an exciting series so far where the Australian’s dominated the first two tests, but the Englishman still came back roaring at Headingley to keep their Ashes hopes alive. With the Aussies leading the series 2-1, this is not only a chance to keep the Ashes in Australia, but also a chance to beat their rivals at their home.

For England this is another do or die game where the only way to bring the urn back to England is a winning result . With the series still alive this major rivalry is still looking to promise us more excitement. This is the deciding game where the Aussies have the chance to retain the ashes for the third time in a row and the Mighty Englishmen to still keep their ashes hopes alive.

Cricket's Glorious Theatre: Old Trafford's Statistical Legacy

The Emirates Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester is one of the oldest grounds in England. This ground has hosted 84 test matches so far where England have played 82 games out of which they have won 32 , lost 15 and 35 have ended in a draw giving them a 39.02% win rate whereas the Australians have played 31 with 9 wins, 7 losses and 15 draws giving them a win rate of 29.03%.

With these stats we come to the conclusion that England have had the upper hand most of the time playing in this ground. The last 5 years at this ground there have been a majority of draws which stands at 43% which indicates that there might be maximum chances of a shared result. Even though there might have been a lot of draws there is still a high percentage of wins for the team batting first which is 38.4% compared to the team batting second which is only 18.6%.

Along with these stats the average score in the first innings at this venue is 337 and second innings score is 270 which tells us that scoring might get difficult towards the end and it might be a better idea to bat first and make use of the better conditions early on and make a big score.

The Ashes Extravaganza: Legendary Matchups Unfolds

Broad vs Warner- Throughout his test career Warner has always looked to dominate whichever bowler he faces, but Stuart broad has been one of the bowlers who has kept the flamboyant southpaw quiet. He has been dismissed 17 times by Broad in test matches which also include the three times he’s been dismissed in this series.

Cummins vs Root- Along with Warne and Broad we cannot forget the matchup between the Aussie skipper and the English superstar which started back in 2017. Root has also struggled against the New South Wales paceman where he has been dismissed 10 times and averages only 22.60 against him.

Conclusion

With this series almost coming to an end with some excitement still left with the series wide open for both sides. With Australia leading the series so far, they should look to play their best game which they had played in the first two games and England have to learn to have a good plan with their positive and fearless approach to test cricket.
