[Watch] Joe Root's Golden Arm Does The Job Again As Ravindra Jadeja Out Caught & Bowled

Joe Root may have missed out with the bat and faced flak for his failings in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, but England's modern-day legend has been making healthy contributions with his part-time bowling skills, providing skipper Ben Stokes with critical breakthroughs.

Having bagged crucial wickets in England's victory in the first Test, Root was in his elements again as he dismissed centurion Ravindra Jadeja at the beginning of Day 2 in the third Test in Rajkot on Friday (February 16).

Troubling Jadeja with a mix of ones turning away and coming into the left-hander, Root threw a floater as a trap for Jadeja, and the premier Indian allrounder fell right into it. The off-spinner, with fantastic control over his lengths and ability to vary speeds, gave Jadeja a slow loopy off-break and had him caught & bowled on an attempted big shot.

Root Dismisses Jadeja Again On Day 2 In Rajkot

Jadeja, who had produced one of his finest centuries for India in Test cricket on Day 1 and was batting unbeaten 112 off 225 deliveries, was out trying to loft one over the bowler's head for a pressure-easing boundary. However, he could only get the splice of his willow and handed Root the easiest of catching opportunities.

Jadeja would've been livid with himself as on him depended much of India's hopes of stretching their overnight score of 326/5 to something more substantial and befitting as a first-innings score on a traditional Rajkot surface, which is expected to stay true for batting until late into Day 3.

It was Root's sixth Test match scalp for England in the Test series and one that he would cherish as it was a perfect set-up in the mould of specialist tweakers at the Test level as he continues to enhance his reputation as a bowler.
