In the ongoing series decider match between Pakistan and England at the Rawalpindi Stadium, Jamie Smith has hogged the headlines for his brilliant knock on a challenging pitch.

Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the pitch acted strangely, which resulted in an uneven bounce that troubled the batters. Despite a 56-run opening stance, the Three Lions lost six wickets for 118 runs.

Meanwhile, Gus Atkinson and Smith stitched a valuable 107-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Talking about Smith, the star keeper-batter amassed 89 (119), which featured four fours and seven sixes.

Jamie Smith Misses Out On His Away Test Century

Smith missed out on a well-deserved century and missed the opportunity to smash his second Test century and first away from home. His knock will go down in history as one of the best innings as he performed and nearly smashed a century on a track with uneven bounce.

Zahid Mahmood got an important breakthrough as he got rid of Smith on the 3rd ball of the 63rd over. Smith went for a slog sweep but mistimed it, which resulted in a top-edge. Eventually, Mohammad Rizwan made no mistake behind the wicket, and Smith had to return to the pavilion.

Sajid Khan Steals The Show With His Effort

It is worth noting that right before the wicket, Smith had gone for a big shot and nearly collected a six but Sajid Khan put in a great effort to stop the ball from going over the fence. That save prompted Smith to try something new that costed him his wicket.

At the time of writing this article, England have been bowled out for 267. Sajid Khan is in the form of his life as he has taken a five-wicket haul. It is worth noting that Khan also registered a five-wicket haul and took seven wickets in an innings.
