R Ashwin Surpasses Nathan Lyon To Become Leading Wicket-Taker In Test Among Active Cricketers

In the ongoing second Test between India and New Zealand at the MCA Stadium, R Ashwin has scripted history as he has become the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket among active cricketers. 

After his third wicket in the ongoing Test, Ashwin went past Nathan Lyon to achieve this amazing feat. Ashwin now has 531 Test wickets, one more than Lyon, who has 530 to his name. Here is the list of active cricketers with the most Test wickets.

Notably, Ashwin has taken just 104 matches to reach 531 wickets. Meanwhile, Lyon sits on the second position with 530 wickets in 129 matches. Overall, Ashwin has become the seventh leading wicket-taker in Test cricket. 

Ashwin Becomes Leading Wicket-Taker In WTC

It was not the only record scripted by Ashwin as he earlier went past Lyon to become the leading wicket-taker in World Test Championship after his second wicket. The right-arm off-spinner now has 189 wickets in 39 matches, surpassing Lyon who has 187 scalps in 43 matches.
