Lions captain Imam-ul-Haq let his team down with risky running in the lone qualifier of the Pakistan Champions T20 Cup 2024. Opening the innings alongside Hasan Nawaz whilst in pursuit of 181 runs, Imam chipped his Markhors counterpart Iftikhar Ahmed towards his leg side and took off for a single.

Upon reaching for his second run, the discarded Pakistani cricketer fell short of his crease as the Lions slipped to 5-1 within the first over of the run-chase.

Imam-ul-Haq Caught Short By Markhors Fielder

Lions captain and opening batter Imam-ul-Haq fell short of his crease while completing a second run in the first over of his team’s run-chase. Upon chipping Markhors spinner Iftikhar Ahmed towards his leg side, an agile Muhammad Abdul Samad picked up the ball and sent down a near-perfect throw towards wicketkeeper Khawaja Nafay, who in turned clipped the bails to send Imam packing back to the sheds.

Leading the Lions in the Pakistan Champions T20 Cup 2024, Imam-ul-Haq has notched up two match-winning half-centuries for his team so far along with a couple of additional 40s, and led them to a number three finish on the five-team points table.

Facing Markhors in the qualifier, Iftikhar Ahmed and co. mounted 180-6 upon batting first earlier in the game. Blistering opening batter Fakhar Zaman clobbered 89 runs from just 64 balls to top-score in the innings, while Muhammad Abdul Samad made an unbeaten 41* from just 20 in the slog overs.

For the Lions, Afaq Afridi picked up three wickets at an expense of just 29 runs in four overs. Additionally, Sahab Khan also picked up two wickets, albeit during his expensive four-over spell.
