Islamabad United's all-rounder Imad Wasim set the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 final alight with a mesmerising performance against Multan Sultans on Monday in Karachi. Wasim, riding the crest of a wave in terms of form, single-handedly dismantled Multan's batting lineup, leaving them in tatters.

Imad Wasim becomes first bowler to take a fifer in PSL final

Coming to bowl with the new ball in the second over, Imad Wasim struck gold early, sending Yasir Khan back to the pavilion and then knocked over David Willey on the over's final delivery.

His magic didn't wane as the match progressed, as he sent the formidable Johnson Charles packing for four runs during the middle overs.

But Wasim was far from done. In the death overs, he came back and removed Khushdil Shah and Chris Jordan off consecutive balls in the 17th over, completing a rare and spectacular five-wicket haul.

With a brilliant off-break on a full-length, Wasim got Jordan to nick behind the ball for a golden duck to bring up his fifer. This feat etched his name in PSL history as the first bowler to achieve such a milestone in a final.

Wasim's heroics came on the back of his crucial match-winning fifty in the last match against Peshawar Zalmi, showcasing his knack for rising to the occasion when the stakes are highest.

Thanks to his stunning performance, Multan Sultans found themselves hemmed in at 127/9 before Iftikhar Ahmed's late blitz took them post the 150-run mark.
