Delhi Capitals fast bowler Shikha Pandey struck big in the opening over against Mumbai Indians in the second match of the WPL 2025 season at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. The speedster induced a nick of Mumbai Indians opener and prolific run-scorer Hayley Matthews for just a two-ball duck as Delhi Capitals gained early advantage in the game.

Shikha Pandey’s fiery sendoff to Hayley Matthews

Delhi Capitals fast bowler Shikha Pandey made the most of the new ball by striking in the opening over of the match against Mumbai Indians. Bowling to Hayley Matthews, the speedster pitched the ball a tad shorter to make the batter drive outside off. However, Matthews merely managed to edge the ball towards the ever-reliable Meg Lanning at first slip.


Shikha Pandey also knocked over Yastika Bhatia a couple of overs later in the innings as the Mumbai Indians finished its six-over powerplay phase at 41-2.

Nonetheless, Nat Sciver-Brunt at number three and captain Harmanpreet Kaur resurrected Mumbai Indians by racing to 87-2 at the halfway stage of the innings.

Prior to the match, Delhi Capitals skipper Meg Lanning had won the toss and opted to field first. The match marks the opening fixture for both sides this WPL 2025 season. By securing a win upfront, each of the two teams will be aiming to start off their WPL 2025 campaign on a positive note.
