The 2nd T20I between Pakistan and Australia is underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The hosts won the toss and opted to bat first. The Men in Yellow went all guns blazing as Matthew Short and Jake-Fraser McGurk got off to a blistering start.
Notably, the openers hit Shaheen Afridi for 21 runs in the first over and were 48/0 after 3 overs. However, Haris Rauf put a break to the run-machine and got rid of McGurk in his first over to draw the first blood for Pakistan.

In the same over, Rauf got rid of skipper Josh Inglis, who returned to the pavilion with a silver duck. Talking about McGurk, he was struggling against Rauf, as the right-arm seamer used his brains and varied his pace to frustrate McGurk.
Just a delivery before the wicket, Rauf bowled a 119 kmph delivery that hit McGurk on his abdomen as he swung the bat hard. On the very net delivery, Rauf bowled a bouncer and McGurg, in an attempt to clear the fence, played a tennis shot but gave a simple catch to Salman Ali Agha on the boundary ropes.
Rauf roared after the wicket as he was happy that he was able to put his strategy to use against Pakistan.
End Of The Road For McGurk?
Australia's star batter, who shone for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, failed to replicate that performance for Australia and is still looking for his 2nd fifty-plus score in T20Is. McGurk has been under the scanner in this series as he has amassed just 29 runs in two matches.
He made his debut against Scotland in September 2024 but scored just 16 runs in three matches, which left the fans talking about his place in the team.
