Hardik Pandya proved why he is irreplaceable in Team India's current setup again on Thursday (June 20) when they faced Afghanistan in T20 World Cup 2024's Super 8 encounter at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

The ace all-rounder smashed 32 off 24 balls, laced with three fours and two sixes, to help India reach 181/8 after they seemed to be in a dodgy situation in the early half of the contest. During his crucial knock, one shot made headlines, and it came against none other than one of the most popular Afghanistan's speedsters, Naveen-ul-Haq.

It was a slow delivery bowled by Naveen-ul-Haq, who came to bowl the 18th over of India’s innings. Hardik, while waiting for it, used all the power he had before slamming it nonchalantly over the deep mid-wicket region for a 98-metre maximum.

The ball landed straight onto the roof of Kensington Oval before it went out of the stadium.

India, riding on SKY's heroics, finished with 181/8. In reply, Afghanistan, at the time of writing this, are 54/3 after 8.4 overs, with Gulbadin Naib and Azmatullah Omarzai in the middle, having a mission to rebuild the innings before going for the kill.
