During the highly anticipated clash between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Gujarat Titans (GT), a distressing incident unfolded in the stands of Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as a Hardik Pandya fan was reportedly assaulted by supporters of Rohit Sharma.

Mumbai Indians fanbase has been divided ever since Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of the team. After the sudden change of dynamics, MI stepped out for their first IPL fixture against GT yesterday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The Ahmedabad crowd was seemingly outraged against Hardik and greeted him with relentless boos. And unfortunately, the alleged divide between the players reached the fans as a distressing scuffle broke out in the stands last night.

In a video doing rounds on social media, a fan was seen getting physically assaulted by a group of individuals claiming to be Rohit Sharma loyalists. The spectator who was on the receiving end was supposedly supporting Hardik Pandya, and the conflict of views contributed to the aggressive shuffle.

The entire unfortunate incident unfolded in the stands of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad whilst MI vs GT clash was being played in full swing.

While the authenticity of the video is unclear, the physical shuffle reflects badly on Narendra Modi Stadium’s authorities in ensuring a smooth conduct of a cricket match of this intensity.

Moving forward, it is essential for authorities, organizers, and fans alike to work together to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future.

Besides the fans, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma were also engaged in heated moments during the game, which will only add fuel to the rivalry henceforth.
