Hardik Pandya had a poor outing with both bat and ball in IPL 2024, but showed his class as an all-rounder in the practice match against Bangladesh, and followed it up with a good bowling display against Ireland in T20 World Cup opener. However, India needed him with the bat against Pakistan, but the talented cricketer failed to get going and scored just 7 off 12 balls.

It was the 18th over of India's innings, and they needed Hardik to bat till the end as they were already seven down. Haris Rauf bowled a length delivery angling into middle and Hardik flicked it. He seemed to have timed it well, but did not get enough power to take it over the line and Iftikhar Ahmed at the deep took a good running catch to his left at deep square leg. 

Interestingly, Rohit had hit a similar flick shot for a six on the very first over of the match against Shaheen Afridi.

On the next delivery, Bumrah was also sent back to the hut, as India were bowled out for just 119 after asked to bat first by Babar Azam. Rishabh Pant was the highest run-scorer for India with 42 off 21 balls, but along with him, only Rohit Sharma and Axar Patel got to double figuers as Indian crumbled drastically on a pitch that was assisting pacers.

Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf both picked three wickets apiece, while Amir got two wickets with Shaheen bagging a big wicket of Rohit Sharma who also failed to clear the fence with his flick shot.
