The St Lucia Kings are locking horns with the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the sixth match of the CPL 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. The Kings have put the Falcons in a spot of bother with their economical and efficient bowling effort.

Faf du Plessis, the skipper of the Kings, won the toss ahead of the game and opted to field first. The Falcons had a slowing start as their openers tried to lay a solid foundation for their team. However, Fakhar Zaman fell soon after he found a bit of rhythm and in an attempt to up the ante. The early departure of the in-form opener rocked the Falcons, and they struggled to recover from that.

Falcons struggled throughout their innings

The Falcons had a stop-and-start kind of an inning, where they struggled to really get some momentum going in their innings. Their young talent, Jewel Andrew, has so far done a good job under pressure and has established himself as one of the mainstays of the batting. The Falcons were looking up to him in this game to bail them out once more in this game. However, that did not happen as the Afghan youngster, Noor Ahmad, deceived Andrew with a wrong one in the 14th over of the innings.

On the third delivery of the 14th over, Noor bowled a full delivery around the off stump. Andrew got down on one knee and tried to smash the ball away over long-on. However, Andrew misread the wrong one as a result of which he only managed to get a top edge to be taken in the deep. It ended a rather uncomfortable stay for Andrew in the middle.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul praising Jewel Andrew

Jewel Andrew, the 17-year-old, has recently impressed many cricket experts with his talent, composure, and temperament. One of his most recent fans is the legendary West Indian batter Shivnarine Chanderpaul. In a recent interaction with the media arranged by Parimatch, the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons' coach was heard heaping praise on the young batter. He even said that Jewel Andrew is the youngster he is watching out for in this CPL.

Coming back to the game, the Falcons struggled throughout their innings and posted only 142/7 at the end of their 20 overs. This total is so far the lowest of CPL 2024.
