The first edition of the Kerala Cricket League has started, and some young Indian talents are displaying their skills. In the fourth match of the tournament, the Alleppey Ripples took on the Trivandrum Royals at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Royals won the toss in the game and put the Ripples to bat. The Ripples made a good start to their innings as their openers, K Prasad and Mohammed Azharuddeen, stitched 51 runs for the first wicket within six overs. These two openers looked in good touch and could have batted the Ripples out if not for Vinil TS.

Vinil TS tested Azharuddeen's techinque

The 25-year-old left-arm pacer bowled a jaffa of a delivery to dismiss Azharuddeen in the seventh. On the first ball of the seventh over, Vinil bowled a good length delivery at the middle, and the leg stump line moved back considerably after pitching. Azharuddeen was left stunned by the movement. He was caught playing the line of the delivery and hence beaten by the inward movement as the ball crashed onto the stumps.

It was a dream delivery for a left-arm seamer. The delivery might have had flashes of the great, Wasim Akram, who was a master of bringing the ball back into the right-handed batters and putting them in trouble.

The Ripples managed to win the game

The Ripples' skipper's dismissal deterred them from getting a formidable total. However, they put together a decent team effort to put on a fighting score of 145/8 in their 20 overs.

With the Greenfield International Stadium wicket being a tricky one to bat on, it was expected to be a close fight in the second innings. However, despite the efforts of Basith (45 off 31) and Akhil (38 off 36), the Royals got bundled out for 112 in 18.1 overs, losing the game by 33 runs.
