Glenn Phillips is more than just a batter for the New Zealand team. He is arguably one of the best fielders going around, and is also a handy bowler when the conditions favour him. Time and again, he has proven his worth with the ball and has often been touted as the man with the golden arm.

NZ's Golden arm man strikes with dream delivery

In white-ball cricket, Phillips has often showcased his skills, however, he has gotten limited opportunities in Test cricket to roll his arms. In the ongoing first Test match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Phillips decided to prove his worth with the ball in hand and delivered an R Ashwin style off-break to stun Sri Lanka's Dhananjaya De Silva.

The surface at Galle favours the spinners, and the Kiwi all-rounder took advantage of it. DDS was batting at 11, when Phillips bowled an outrageous off-break, which pitched outside the off and turned back in sharply to knock the stumps.

De Silva played away from the body and was beaten on the inside-edge as the Sri Lankan batter looked clueless against the part-time bowler.

This was a trademark Ashwin delivery, who has always relied on his off-break to knock the stumps in Test cricket. The delivery stunned the entire Sri Lankan camp and was surely the ball of the year.

Sri Lanka in command, thanks to Mendis' ton

Batting first on a spin-friendly surface, Sri Lankan batters have taken command of the situation on Day 1. Pathum Nissanka, Dinesh Chandimal, and Angelo Mathews all started well, but couldn't capitalise on the start.

But one man stood tall and has once again delivered for Sri Lanka - Kamindu Mendis. The Sri Lankan batter has made a dream start to his Test career, and has proven his worth in home and away conditions.  He batted with grit and determination to slam a majestic hundred. At the moment, Sri Lanka are 264/5, with Mendis batting at 104.
