Veteran Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has had a fabulous day in the ongoing World Cup clash against the Netherlands in Delhi. After powering Australia through a mammoth 400-run total through a blistering 44-ball 106, Maxwell starred as a fielder, sending the well-set Vikramjit Singh back to the dugout with a sensational direct hit.

Chasing 401, the Netherlands began their innings on a positive note, as Vikramjit Singh struck a flurry of boundaries.

Despite losing Max O'Dowd cheaply, the Dutch breached the 30-run mark quickly, thanks to Singh's early fireworks. However, his brief stay was put to an end by Maxwell, as he hit the bull's eye from quite some distance to run him out.

The incident occurred in the sixth over when the Dutch were well-placed at 37 for one. After scoring a boundary off the fourth ball, Vikramjit Singh pushed the Josh Hazlewood's penultimate delivery towards the mid off.

The batters attempted for a quick single, but Maxwell showcased extraordinary fielding skills to pick the ball up and hit the stumps through a direct hit.

After Singh's departure, Sybrand Engelbrecht joined the middle to steady the Dutch ship alongside Colin Ackermann. As of writing, the Netherlands are 42 for two in 8.1 overs.
