Glenn Maxwell’s torrid form with the bat continues to haunt RCB this IPL 2024 season. Turning up for his side against Gujarat Titans at Bengaluru, the Australian middle-order batter was dismissed for just four runs by visiting fast bowler Josh Little.

Maxwell is yet to score a single half-century this season, and his current IPL 2024 tally stands at just 36 runs from seven innings at an abysmal average of 5.14.

RCB openers Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli wiped out 92 runs from their 148-run task together on their own in less than six overs.

However, Faf’s dismissal at the hands of Josh Little at the brink of the opening powerplay triggered a colossal top-order collapse within the RCB camp.

Number five batter Glenn Maxwell was one of the casualties of RCB’s run-chase collapse as he was dismissed for just four by the Irish speedster.

Making his way to the middle following the departure of Rajat Patidar at 103-3, Maxwell whipped a sizzling boundary off Little before he was holed out by David Miller a couple of deliveries later.

Earlier in the match, RCB bowlers restricted Gujarat Titans to just 147 runs after winning the toss and opting to field first.

Chasing 148, RCB opener Virat Kohli struck a fluent 27-ball 42 and captain Faf du Plessis belted a 23-ball 64 as the franchise recorded its highest powerplay total. However, a flurry of wickets dismantled RCB’s top-order response as they slumped from 92-0 to 117-6 in the space of just five overs.

Fortunately for the hosts, Dinesh Karthik fought back with a valiant cameo alongside Swapnil Singh to take his team past the finishing line with ease.
