Mumbai Indians (MI) almost have crashed out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs race after sustaining a 24-run loss at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday night.
The outcome marked Mumbai Indians’ eighth defeat of the season, and their fourth in succession as they continue to languish at number nine position on the IPL 2024 points table.
Mere hours after MI’s shambolic loss, a legion of fans of the franchise took to X (formerly Twitter) and launched a scathing attack on all-rounder and newly-appointed skipper Hardik Pandya.

Hardik Pandya was acquired by the Mumbai team management late last year prior to the IPL 2024 auction. A couple of weeks later, the franchise appointed the all-rounder as their new skipper, thus replacing decade-long captain and five-time IPL winner Rohit Sharma in the process.
The move sparked widespread outrage, with several Mumbai Indians fans and Rohit Sharma enthusiasts resorting to either online trolling or on-field booing for Pandya.
