Explosive Mumbai Indians batter Tim David had a forgettable time with the bat in his side's first home game of the IPL 2024 against Rajasthan Royals.

Known for his hard-hitting skills, David fell flat against RR's rampant bowling attack, managing only 17 runs before Nandre Burger dismissed him in the penultimate over.

The incident occurred in the third delivery of the 19th over when the Royals' skipper Sanju Samson brought Burger into the attack. The move paid off, with the talented left-arm pacer getting rid of David.

Burger came around the wicket and surprised David with a nasty bumper, as the batter went for an aerial hook shot. However, he managed to find the safe hands of Trent Boult, who completed a simple catch at the square leg boundary.

David, who looked rusty during his stay, thus made his way back to the dugout for a slow 24-ball 17, with disappointment written all over his face.

His departure resulted in frustration among the MI fans, who had already witnessed their team's pathetic batting show in this high-voltage clash. A fan was even seen slamming his head with agony.

Regarding the game, Mumbai Indians posted a sub-par 125-run total, as the Royals bowlers ran riot with the ball. Therefore, the Sanju Samson-led outfit needs only 126 runs to seal their third win of the season and claim the top spot in the IPL 2024 standings.
