Mumbai Indians' skipper Hardik Pandya stepped up for his franchise in the ongoing IPL 2024 clash against Rajasthan Royals, bailing them out of trouble with a valuable knock. 

After being put into bat first, Mumbai Indians had a disastrous start to their innings, losing Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir in the very first over. 

MI's ex-member Trent Boult turned out to be their nemesis, running through their top-order with a clinical three-wicket haul. After his side was pushed down on the mat, Pandya came out to bat, joining Tilak Varma in the middle. 

The veteran all-rounder took a particular liking for Nandre Burger, who was looking lethal, having already got the prized scalp of Ishan Kishan. 

Pandya, who came out as MI's number six batter, smashed Burger for three boundaries, collecting sixteen runs off a single over. 

The incident occurred in the sixth over of MI's innings when they were reeling at 30 for four, with Pandya batting alongside Tilak Varma. The swashbuckling all-rounder took on the RR spearhead instantly, dispatching his second ball to the boundary. 

He followed it up with another four before sending the penultimate ball to the long on boundary with a glorious lofted shot. 

However, Pandya couldn't convert his start into a big score, with Yuzvendra Chahal dismissing him for 34. As of writing, MI were in a spot of bother, tottering at 82 for five, with Pyush Chawla and Tilak Varma unbeaten in the middle.
