Mumbai Indians had a disastrous start to their innings in the ongoing IPL 2024 match against Rajasthan Royals, as Trent Boult wreaked havoc in the hosts camp with a sensational new ball spell. 

The veteran New Zealand seamer started the carnage by dismissing ex-captain Rohit Sharma on the fifth delivery of his opening over, as RR captain Sanju Samson took a stunning catch behind the stumps. 

The incident occurred in the first over of MI's innings as Boult came to open the attack for the Royals. After setting up Rohit with a few incoming deliveries, Boult took the ball away from the legendary opener. 

His strategy was sufficient to trap the veteran, who edged the ball behind the stumps. Samson, who keeps the wicket for Rajasthan Royals, dived towards his right, completing an excellent low catch. 

Thus, Mumbai Indians, who are yet to win a match in the competition, were rocked by an early setback, losing the key wicket of Rohit straightaway. 

The Kiwi speedster also got rid of Naman Dhir, trapping him plumb in front of the stumps on the following ball. On his second over, the left-arm pacer sent MI's impact player Dewald Brevis packing for a golden duck. 

Riding on his exploits in the powerplay, Rajasthan Royals have reduced the five-time champions to 16 for three in 2.4 overs, with Tilak Varma and Ishan Kishan unbeaten in the middle.
