The fifth match of the T20 World Cup 2024 is witnessing a dominating show by Afghanistan. They are outclassing the tournament debutants, Uganda in every aspect of the game by a huge margin. 

After being invited to bat first by Brian Masaba, the Afghan openers put on a brilliant batting show. They played the major role in setting up a target of 183 runs. 

Uganda struggled in the chase from the very beginning. Fazalhaq Farooqi gave them a rude shock in the first over with two wickets. The Ugandan batting line-up failed to recover from this intital jolt. They kept losing wickets on a regular basis and were in deep trouble at 18/5 within the first five overs. 


Farooqi Ends The Ugandan Reslience

After this Riazat Ali Shah and Robinson Obuya decided to show a bit of resilience. The duo stopped the flow of wickets and stuck together for 45 deliveries. However, during this 7.3 overs the duration they scored only 29 runs. It was a frustrating period for the Afghan team as they game looked to have come to an impass. 


It was once again Fazalhaq Farooqi who got Afghanistan out of the rut. On the first delivery of the 13th over the left-arm pacer cleaned up Riazat Ali Shah and ended the slow and stagnant partnership. Farooqi displayed his skill as he went full and straight and induced a false shot from Shah to get his wicket. It was the third wicket of the match for him. He has been the pick for the bowlers for Afghanistan in the game.
