Seems like tension is boiling in the ongoing World Cup 2023 match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

It has been a topsy-turvy battle in Pune as the two teams are still in contention for a place in the semi-finals. The margin of error in such games is almost negligible and one mistake can lead to a defeat. Perhaps Fazalhaq Farooqi felt the pressure and intensity of this game when he abused Maheesh Theekshana after taking his wicket.

The incident occurred in the 47th over when Theekshana was batting. On the third delivery of the over, the Sri Lankan bowler smacked Farooqi for a massive six, which rattled him. However, despite getting frustrated, the left-arm seamer bounced back on the last delivery and bowled an inch-perfect yorker to scalp Theekshana's wicket.

While Farooqi should have gotten the accolades for the way he dismissed Theekshana, the talk of the town became the aftermath of the wicket. After knocking Theekshana's stumps, the Afghan seamer gave a death stare and in a heated moment even abused the Lankan spinner.

Talking about the contest, Afghanistan has managed to dismiss Sri Lanka to 241 on the board. The Afghans will be riding high on confidence after a clinical chase against Pakistan, and they'll relish the chance to chase this as well.
