In the latest development coming out from the Indian camp, it has been reported that Shreyas Iyer is likely be dropped from the playing XI once Hardik Pandya comes back from his injury.

Iyer, who is India's primary number 4 batter, has looked out of touch in this World Cup, and as per a BCCI insider, the Indian team management will consider dropping Iyer, if he doesn't score runs in the next game against Sri Lanka.

The BCCI insider told OneCricket that Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma were pleased with how Suryakumar Yadav performed against England under tough circumstances. As a result, he is likely to get a nod at number 4 for the rest of the matches in the tournament.

Barring a fifty against Pakistan, Iyer has failed to convert his starts into something big and has repeatedly failed against bowlers using the short-pitched tactics. Even against England, the right-handed batter had a chance to showcase his mettle, but he failed to deliver the goods.

Hardik set for a semi-finale return

Talking about Hardik Pandya, the ace all-rounder suffered from an ankle injury during the game against Bangladesh. He limped off the field and was taken for scans. Hardik has started doing gym work at NCA, and will return in the semi-finals.
