In a do-or-die clash during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 Eliminator, Ellyse Perry once again proved to be the linchpin for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB W) as she helped her side get out of troubled waters with a fighting fifty.

Perry, batting at No. 3, was the only hope for RCB Women, as she anchored the innings amidst a collapse, showcasing her mettle when it mattered the most. With RCB's top order crumbling like a house of cards, Perry’s resilience was the silver lining.

Her innings was laden with class and determination, particularly evident in a stunning six off Pooja Vastrakar in the 13th over. Ellyse Perry's calculated aggression turned the tide, as she milked the bowling attack, snatching boundaries off loose deliveries. Without her courageous efforts, RCB's total would have been a tall tale.

Thanks to Perry, RCB has managed to muster a respectable 135/6 in their 20 overs, setting a competitive target for the formidable Mumbai Indians Women (MI W).

The early loss of key batters like Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine, who both departed for 10, and modest contributions from Richa Ghosh and Sophie Molineux, highlighted the dismal position RCB found themselves in. Yet, Perry’s 66 off 50 balls, a knock filled with eight fours and a breathtaking six, gave RCB a glimmer of hope.

As the innings concluded with Perry’s dismissal in the final over, the onus now falls on RCB’s bowlers to defend their honour against MI’s powerhouse batting lineup.
