Pakistan’s fielding has often been criticized and joked about, with errors occurring in almost every game. This trend continued in the second ODI between Pakistan and Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, November 8, where an amusing incident took place while Pakistan legend Wasim Akram was on commentary.
The humorous moment unfolded off the pitch when Akram, along with co-commentators Brad Haddin and James Brayshaw, was discussing Pakistan’s fielding. Brayshaw asked Akram why so many dismissals during his playing days with Waqar Younis were either LBWs or bowled outs. Akram, keeping a straight face, humorously responded that he and Waqar were skeptical about their fielders’ reliability, especially in the slip cordon, as they often missed catches and blamed it on not seeing the ball properly.
Ironically, just moments after this exchange, Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi dropped a straightforward catch at deep backward square leg, adding to the laughter around Akram’s previous comments.
