There have been plenty of baseless rumours about Shreyas Iyer and Yuzvendra Chahal’s wife Dhanashree Verma. To put them aside, though, Dhanashree and Chahal gave Shreyas a standing ovation following his swashbuckling century against New Zealand on Wednesday (November 15) in India's World Cup 2023 semi-final.

It took Iyer just 67 balls to reach the century mark, an achievement that will live on forever. In all, he smashed eight sixes and four fours in a brilliant 70-ball 105 before holing out to Daryl Mitchell during the 49th over of the innings, bowled by Trent Boult.

Everyone in Wankhede Stadium, along with Dhanashree and Chahal, were up on their feet to congratulate Iyer, who tore New Zealand bowlers apart. Not to forget, he was heavily criticized due to his early failures in the campaign, and the way he came back from there can only be written on the scripts.

India, after opting to bat, closed on a huge 397/4 against the Black Caps. Shreyas’ knock was ably assisted by Virat Kohli, who stole the show by hitting his 50th ODI century.
