The cricket world has been set alight by a controversial remark made by former Pakistan cricketer, Abdul Razzaq about celebrated Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai. Razzaq's comment, which implied that marrying Aishwarya would not ensure the birth of a pious child, was made during a press event, triggering a firestorm of criticism.

Amidst this whirlwind of controversy, former legendary Pakistan pacer, Shoaib Akhtar, known for his blistering pace and straightforward opinions, stepped into the spotlight with a decisive social media intervention.

Akhtar, never one to shy away from voicing his thoughts, revealed on Twitter a behind-the-scenes conversation with Shahid Afridi, another icon of Pakistani cricket. This revelation came in the wake of initial perceptions that Afridi, who was seen smiling and clapping at the event, might have endorsed Razzaq's contentious statement.

Akhtar's tweet, however, unveiled a different narrative. “I just had a word with @SAfridiOfficial. He called & said that he genuinely did not understand what was said otherwise he would have condemned it there & then. He has condemned it on TV as well and in clear words with me on the phone,” tweeted Akhtar.

This insight, shared by Akhtar, painted a picture of Afridi as unaware of the full implications of Razzaq's words at the time they were spoken. Moreover, it highlighted Afridi's firm disapproval of the disrespectful remark, as he has since expressed condemnation both on television and in his private conversation with Akhtar.

The saga has evolved into a broader debate on the principles of respect and dignity towards individuals, transcending boundaries of background or nationality. Akhtar's stern rebuke, along with Afridi's subsequent repudiation, teaches a vital lesson in public discourse: the imperative of maintaining decorum and empathy.
