Dewald Brevis, the most expensive player of the SA20 2025-26 auction, has been criticised for his irresponsible knocks until now. However, the Chennai Super Kings' stalwart exhibited a breathtaking six-hitting display with Sherfane Rutherford in the Pretoria Capitals vs MI Cape Town clash in SA20 2025-26 to shut down the haters.
Dewald Brevis retorted to the critics with the fiery knock as he hit balls out of the park. While playing during the December 31 clash at Newlands in Cape Town, Brevis ended his poor run in the tournament. Notably, his previous two scores in the match were 12 and 6 runs.
Dewald Brevis slams towering sixes in SA20
Batting first in the match, Dewald Brevis came in much later down the order compared to the first two matches. After batting at number four against the Joburg Super Kings and Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Brevis walked in at number six on this occasion.
Dewald Brevis played a fiery knock of 36 off 13 balls, smashing four towering sixes and one boundary to push Pretoria Capitals forward.

Brevis came to the crease after Shai Hope had stitched together a solid 88-run partnership with Wihan Lubbe, which was eventually broken by Trent Boult in the 15th over.
Sherfane Rutherford pairs up with formidable hitting
Alongside Brevis, Sherfane Rutherford produced another blitzkrieg innings, scoring 47 runs off just 15 deliveries at a staggering strike rate of 313.33.
The Caribbean all-rounder brought the heat, hammering six sixes during his stay, as the duo added a rapid 86 runs from just 27 balls. Their explosive partnership helped the team accelerate sharply in the death overs, allowing them to post a strong total of 220 runs on the board.
MI Cape Town had no reply to this onslaught as they were wrapped for 135 runs while chasing. Keshav Maharaj, the skipper, was next in line to dismantle MI Cape Town with his three-wicket haul. Meanwhile, Sherfane Rutherford, who had earlier dominated with the bat, turned wrecker-in-chief with the ball as well, claiming four wickets for his team.
