Stylish New Zealand batter Devon Conway had a memorable outing in the World Cup opener against England, as he struck a glorious fifty to ensure a dream start for his side. Chasing a steep target of 283, the BlackCaps lost Will Young early. However, the swashbuckling southpaws, Conway and Rachin Ravindra, stitching a crucial stand for the second wicket.

While Ravindra exhibited his timing and power hitting, Conway presented a batting masterclass to set the stage on fire.

Regarded as New Zealand's Mr consistent, Conway took a particular liking for ace English pacer Mark Wood, hammering him for two consecutive boundaries, including a six, in the eleventh over.

Bowling the eleventh over, Wood pitched the first ball on the full length, with Conway timing it perfectly back past the bowler for a gorgeous boundary. After being hit for a four, the speedster tried a short ball but only to be belted for a massive six over the fine leg fence.

Continuing their dream run, Conway and Ravindra completed blistering fifties. Riding on their valiant efforts, New Zealand are well on course for a resounding victory, placed at 156 for one in 20.2 overs, with Conway and Ravindra batting on 83* and 72*, respectively.
