Rachin Ravindra is the most highly rated young cricketer in New Zealand and in the opening game of the biggest tournament in the cricketing calendar, the 23-year old is showing his full range and class. He took one wicket with the ball in hand but with the bat, coming in at number 3, he has impressed one and all with his class, composure and effortless strokeplay. He smashed a fifty in just 36 balls, grabbing plenty of eyeballs in the World Cup curtain raiser.

Rachin Ravindra walked into the middle in the second over and and made his intentions clear with a glorious flick shot and then followed it up with another boundary in the very next delivery. He then continued his onslaught with some breathtaking drives and pull shots against the pace of Mark Wood, announcing his arrival on the big stage.

How did Rachin Ravindra got to his fifty?

Rachin Ravindra got to his fifty in style as well with a humongous six over long on. It was a tossed up delivery on middle from Moeen Ali and Rachin got under it quickly to tonk it way over long on for a biggie.

Rachin Ravindra's batting has been a poetry in motion so far and with Conway also going great guns at the other end, New Zealand are well on their way to chase the target of 283 posted by England in the World Cup opener. At the time of writing, New Zealand are 145-1 at the end of 19 overs with Rachin Ravindra batting on 70 off 54 balls and Conway on 74 off 59 balls.
