David Miller and Gerald Coetzee ran into each other on Thursday (November 16) during South Africa’s all-important World Cup 2023 semi-final against Australia at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The two South Africans, while taking their side to a respectable total, had an unfortunate collision during the 41st over of their innings.

Batting on 18* off 33 balls, Coetzee saw a good length delivery coming from Travis Head which he pushed towards the leg side. They both called for a single but kept on looking at the ball. While doing that, both bumped into each other before somehow managing to avoid a serious collision.

In fact, they did not have any problem in completing a single either, as almost an unfortunate scene was about to take place in Kolkata.

After opting to bat, South Africa did not get the start they were looking for against Australia. The Proteas were left reeling at 24/4 before Miller and Heinrich Klassen steadied the ship.

At the time of writing, South Africa are batting on 203/9 after 48 overs, with Nos. 10 and 11 Kagiso Rabada and Tabraiz Shamsi in the middle.
