When Daryl Mitchell is in the mood, it is inevitable that big hits will eventually light up the crowd. The New Zealand all-rounder displayed his range of strokes on Monday (October 9) during their World Cup 2023 fixture against the Netherlands in Hyderabad.

Among Mitchell’s flamboyant shots, the one he hit against Roelof van der Merwe just before the end of the 37th over caught a lot of attention. After watching the opportunity, Mitchell went down the track and clubbed over van der Merwe for a huge six over long-on.

Mitchell also seemed pleased with the timing, as he continued to hold his pose for a while after the shot. The ball continued on and made it to 86 meters as well.

However, Mitchell did not make it big against the Netherlands, as Paul van Meekeren's excellent cutter delivery ended his stay after a brilliant 48. The Kiwi hit five fours and two sixes during his 47-ball stay as New Zealand reached 241/1 after 40.4 overs.

At the time of writing, Tom Latham, batting on 29* off 26 deliveries, holds the key for New Zealand.
