Experienced spinner Roelof van der Merwe emerged as the saviour for the Netherlands in their ongoing World Cup game against New Zealand in Hyderabad. After dismissing Devon Conway earlier, the veteran left-arm spinner got rid of the well-set Rachin Ravindra, helping his side make a comeback in the game.

After being put into bat first, New Zealand had a solid start to their innings, with openers Will Young and Devon Conway adding 67 runs for the first wicket. However, Van der Merwe broke the budding stand, getting the prized scalp of Conway in the 13th over.

But the joy of the Dutch players was shortlived, as Young and Ravindra frustrated them with a dynamic 77-run stand for the second wicket.

However, after Young got out to Paul van Meekeren, Roelof van der Merwe returned to get rid of Ravindra, pushing the Kiwis slightly on the back foot. It was a good length ball that turned sharply, with the batter attempting for a flick shot.

However, Ravindra edged the ball in this process and Scott Edwards took a sharp catch down the leg side to leave him stunned. As of writing, the Kiwis are firmly placed at 210 for three in 36 overs, with Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell batting on 18* and 29*, respectively.
