After an embarrassing outing in the World Cup 2023 opener against last edition’s finalists New Zealand, England will take on the field again on Tuesday (October 10) in Match 7 of the ongoing competition at HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala.
With Bangladesh in front of them this time, Jos Buttler and Co. will be facing a team that triumphed convincingly over Afghanistan in the first game of the campaign.
ENG vs BAN: Team Previews
England
Despite having starts on a batting-friendly Ahmedabad track, none of the English batters managed to convert them into significant scores. Still, they put up 282/9 on the board, with Joe Root top-scoring with an excellent 86-ball 77.
The situation with the ball in hand for the defending champions, however, was never expected at all. The attack, led by Mark Wood, were dispatched all over the place by Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway, leading England to look hopeless. With Kiwi taking only 36.2 overs to get the job done, Wood and his boys have plenty of work to do before they face the Tigers.

England may decide to drop Chris Woakes, who did little with the new ball in their previous outing. The team is expecting Reece Topley to replace him, while it is still unclear whether Ben Stokes is still fit to play.
Bangladesh
It was a scintillating display by Bangladesh bowlers as they skittled Afghanistan to 156 after they were 112/2 at one point at this very venue. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan took the initiative and shared six wickets to make it simple for their batsmen.
Coming to chase, Bangladesh, however, did not have a great start. Having lost both openers, Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das, they were 27/2 at one point. Miraz stepped up with the bat as well, and Najmul Hossain Shanto played second fiddle to him to make his job easier. As a result, they got past the finishing line in just 34.4 overs with six wickets in hand.

After a near-perfect outing, Bangladesh are unlikely to make any changes to their lineup before facing the English powerhouses.

ENG vs BAN: HPCA Stadium Dharamsala Pitch Report
Despite the fact that pacers typically have an advantage at HPCA Stadium over spinners, Bangladesh's spin duo Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz thoroughly enjoyed bowling against Afghanistan in their previous match there. However, extra bounce, as usual, was available, so fast bowlers should have a big impact in this fixture, especially in the early stage of the innings.
