In a dramatic turn of events, veteran Australian batter Mitchell Marsh survived a close LBW call in the ongoing second Test against India at Adelaide Oval. The explosive right-handed batter joined the in-form Travis Head in the middle following Marnus Labuschagne's dismissal off Nitish Kumar Reddy's bowling.

However, before he could open his account, Mitchell Marsh had a heart-in-the-mouth moment when Ravichandran Ashwin nearly trapped him plumb in front of the stumps with a well-disguised delivery. The incident occurred in the 58th over of Australia's first innings when Marsh had just entered the middle.

After bowling two consecutive dot balls, India's veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin managed to outfox Marsh with a clever full-length delivery that struck him on his front pad. As there were two noises, the on-field umpire dismissed the Indians' appeal, prompting them to go upstairs.

As the Indian players were confident, skipper Rohit Sharma instantly signalled for the DRS. However, although the ball seemed to have hit the pad first, the TV umpire asked his on-field colleague to stay with his original decision of not out.

As the impact was umpire's call, Marsh would've to go back if the on-field umpire had declared him out. However, as the TV umpire thought that the ball hit the bat first, India unfortunately lost a review in this crucial affair.

Travis Head's Blistering Fifty Ensures First Innings Lead For Australia

Although Australia lost two quick wickets in the form of Nathan McSweeney and Steve Smith, Travis Head slammed a flamboyant fifty to steady the ship for Australia. Riding on his blistering knock, Australia raced to 191 for four before tea on day 2.
