Apart from being a hard-hitting batter who can finish things off nicely, Richa Ghosh’s primary skillset is donning the big gloves behind the stumps. However, on Saturday, in his debut in whites for India, what he did while fielding at silly point will surely be remembered for a while.

And more importantly, it was Beth Mooney, Australia’s senior-most batter, who had to return to the pavilion due to Richa’s brilliance. However, to be honest, there was a bit of a mistake from the Australian as well, who, after playing so many years, was not expected to make a freakish error.

Batting on 33 off 37 balls with the help of seven fours, Beth Mooney played a fullish delivery bowled by Sneh Rana towards the silly point. While Rana, as well as other Indian players, appealed for a LBW, Mooney, in the meantime, stepped out of the crease. Richa saw the opportunity and, immediately after, threw the ball at the striker’s end.

Stumps were broken straightaway, and Mooney did not even wait for the leg umpire to raise his finger. The Indians were delighted to get the big fish in that manner and congratulated Richa for showing excellent game-awareness.
