New Zealand's renowned cricketer Glenn Phillips showcased his incredible fielding attributes as he grabbed an outstanding catch to dismiss Ollie Pope in the ongoing first Test against England in Christchurch. Coming to bat at number six, Pope struck a magnificent 98-ball 77 before Phillips' one-handed flying catch brought his innings to an abrupt end.

The incident occurred during the 53rd over of England's first innings when Pope and Brook had already formed a valiant 151-run stand for the fifth wicket. New Zealand captain Tom Latham's decision to bring Southee into the attack paid rich dividends for the hosts, as the ace speedster dismissed Pope in his second delivery.

However, it was Glenn Phillips who received massive applause, thanks to his incredible catch at wide gully.

From over the wicket, Southee bowled a short delivery wide outside the off stump. The English keeper-batter nailed the cut shot only to see himself caught by Phillips in the off side.

As the ball flew off Pope's bat, Phillips timed his jump with perfection, grabbing a one-handed screamer to get rid of the English cricketer. His stunning fielding effort provided the Kiwis with a much-needed breakthrough, with Pope departing for 77 runs.

Harry Brook Continues To Frustrate The Spirited Kiwis

However, despite losing his batting partner Pope, Harry Brook continued his onslaught on the home team, dispatching the loose balls into the fence. At the time of writing, the Englishmen were 232 for five, with Brook and Stokes batting on 86* and 1*, respectively.
