Ollie Pope has had an interesting international career so far. The English star who was touted to replace Ben Stokes as the future Test captain always looks promising while batting, but most of the times, he fails to convert them into big scores.

He scored a breath-taking 196 in a winning cause against India in Hyderabad, earlier this year. However, since then, his graph has gone down massively in Tests. Despite scoring 3 centuries in the year 2024, Pope's consistency has always been questioned, and this is the issue which India's KL Rahul also persists.

Just like Pope, KL Rahul plays one blinder of an innings, and then vanishes for the next 5 Tests. Both Pope and KL Rahul have had similar trajectories, with both touted as prodigies, and both failing to live up to the expectations.

In 52 Tests, Pope averages just 33.74, meanwhile, in 54 Test matches, KL Rahul averages just 34.26 and hasn't justified his talent at the international stage. In the ongoing Test match Vs New Zealand, Pope came out to bat in a precarious situation and is batting at 74 at the moment. After his brilliant fifty, fans on social media started trolling him for his inconsistency and also compared him with KL Rahul.

Interestingly, Pope has now scored more runs in one Test innings, than the combined runs he scored in the 3 Tests Vs Pakistan. In the 3 match Test series against Pakistan, he scored just 55 runs, and failed to score anything significant.

He struggled against Sajid Khan and Noman Ali as the spin duo troubled him throughout the series.

However, in just one innings here, he has surpassed the run-scoring tally from the Pakistan score and now he etches closer towards yet another hundred.
