On his return to One Day cricket, the talismanic English all-rounder Ben Stokes has smashed another half-century against New Zealand that too in his classy style. The left-hander took just 44 balls to reach the milestone, leading England's recovery after early breakthroughs.

The game started with another returnee, Trent Boult, shaking the top order with two quick wickets as he always does in ensuring the BlackCaps get a decent start. However, the duo of Dawid Malan and Stokes batted beautifully to record their respective fifties.

All this happened when the Three Lions needed some rescue act from their experienced stars, which apparently did happen.

Stokes, who was batting on 48, brought a fearless pull shot to Lockie Ferguson at the fine leg region, which resulted in his ninth boundary of the game alongside 26 ODI half-centuries, with the last one coming in the first game of the series.

Additionally, Malan played a crucial role as he utilised 52 deliveries to smash his fifth ODI fifty, striking eight fours along the way.

Later, with these two batting, the home side crossed the 150-run mark as they recorded a partnership worth more than 100, leading their team towards a massive total.

By the time of writing, England were 194 for two down, with the duo still at the crease after the completion of 26 overs.
