Babar Azam is one of the best batters in the world currently and so whenever he takes the field, there is quite a buzz in the cricketing world. Pakistan is currently playing against Sri Lanka in the second Test at SSC, Colombo, and on the third day, Babar Azam played an unusual shot which has created a stir in the social media.
It was the first session of day 3 when Asitha Fernando bowled a lovely good-length delivery, slanting away from Babar Azam. It seemed like Babar tried to leave it but ended up hitting it off the bottom of his blade, the ball went off the outer half of his blade and ran through the gap between slip and gully for a boundary towards the third man fence.
Many people on social media termed it as an innovative and a unique shot while some others simply stated it as a lucky boundary as it seemed that Babar was just trying to leave it. However, such are the times that everything these big players like Babar Azam, Virat Kohli do gain fans attention and create divide among different fan groups.
Talking about the match, Pakistan are in a pole position on day 3. They bowled out Sri Lanka for 166 on day 1 and though the second day washed out due to rain, they are piling runs on day 3. At the time of writing, Pakistan are 336-4 at the end of 84 overs as Abdullah Shafique is batting on 161 and Sarfaraz Ahmed on 10. Babar Azam could not get a big score though and departed on 39 off the bowling of Prabath Jayasuriya.
