The historic 100th Test match between India and West Indies has ended in a disappointing draw as relentless showers denied any cricket action on the final day at Queen's Park Oval. India have won the series by a 1-0 margin. The match was setup nicely for a riveting finish with India needing 8 wickets and West Indies 289 runs on the final day. However, the match has ended in a draw now and both teams have shared four WTC points from this game.
The Test match though produced some fascinating action right throughout the four days of cricket and it is quite a shame that we were not able to get a result.
Virat Kohli's Memorable 500th International Game
The game started with Windies skipper winning the toss and asking India to bat first. Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal started brightly again and put together a century stand before Windies fought back in the second session of day 1 with four wickets to put India on the back foot.
However, Kohli and Jadeja brought India back with a sensational partnership and Kohli in his 500th international game smashed his 29th Test century to equal Don Bradman in terms of centuries in Test cricket. India posted a healthy 438 on the board with Roach and Warrican picking three wickets each.
Sensational Siraj's Five-Wicket Haul and India's Positive Approach
West Indies showed lot of fight with the bat on day 2 and day 3 and were just four down at the end of the third day with batters relying on good old-classical Stoic Test approach. It looked like West Indies will post a good total on the board going into day 4, but Siraj ripped through Windies batting line-up to bundle out Windies for 255.
Siraj took a five-wicket haul while Mukesh Kumar too was impressive on his debut. India had a lead of 183 going into second innings and they came out all guns blazing to smash Windies bowlers all over the park. India scored 181 runs in just 24 overs and managed to set a target of 365, setting up the match perfectly. Ashwin's double strike in the final session of day 4 raised Indian hopes further but rain played a spoilsport on day 5 and the game has ended in a draw.
