Babar Azam is one of the leading batters in world cricket currently and his cover drives and back foot punches are always one to cherish. He has not exactly set the World Cup 2023 on fire so far, but has started his innings against Afghanistan with a bang, smashing a glorious boundary off the first delivery. This is exactly what Pakistan need from their best batter and skipper and they would be hoping that he goes big against Afghanistan.

Babar Azam walked out to bat on the second delivery of the 11th over after Azmatullah got rid of Imam-ul-Haq on the first delivery. He got the wicket of Imam-ul-Haq with a short delivery and tried to bowl a shortish delivery to Babar Azam as well. It was back-of-a-length delivery, outside off and Babar Azam transferred his weight beautifully on the back foot, stayed tall and punched it through covers for a lovely boundary.

The shot will give him lot of confidence and at the time of writing, Pakistan are 85-1 at the end of 17 overs with Babar Azam batting on 21 off 25 balls and Shafique on 46 off 55 balls.
