Days after his stint in New Zealand, Babar Azam swiftly moved to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024. Babar displayed his brilliance with the bat, representing Rangpur Riders in a match against Sylhet Strikers at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

Having won the toss and chosen to bowl, the Riders limited the Strikers to 120 runs. In the chase, Babar Azam delivered a match-winning knock of 56* runs in 49 balls, featuring six boundaries. It appears that the change in soil did not affect Babar's outstanding form and performance in white-ball cricket this year.

This innings marked Babar Azam's 81st T20 fifty, further solidifying his reputation as one of the premier batters in the format. Impressively, it was his 4th T20 fifty in the last six innings.

The current BPL season saw the absence of several Pakistani cricketers due to non-objection letters (NOCs). However, four players, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Wasim Jr., received approval to participate, while pacer Shaheen Afridi gears up for the ILT20.

In the recent T20I series against New Zealand, Pakistan faced a tough 4-1 loss, but Babar Azam stood out as a bright spot amidst the struggle.

The former captain showcased his batting class, securing three consecutive fifties and finishing as the series' second-highest run-scorer with an impressive 213 runs at an average of 42.60 and a striking rate of 142.00. Despite the team's overall challenge, Babar Azam's remarkable performance prevented a series whitewash.
