Azam Khan got angry with a section of the crowd at New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 6 during Pakistan’s opening 2024 T20 World Cup match against USA.

Turning up for his country on the big stage and arriving to the crease following the dismissal of Shadab Khan at 98-4, Azam failed to open his account as he was trapped plumb in front by USA left-arm spinner Nosthush Kenjige for a first-ball duck.

Azam Khan gets angry at fans after duck

Azam Khan, who failed to impress during Pakistan’s last month tour of England, was dismissed for a first-ball duck by USA spinner Nosthush Kenjige in their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on June 6.

Azam failed to read Kenjige’s length delivery as the ball skidded through middle and leg to hit the top of his leg stump. His dismissal worsened Pakistan’s middle-order struggles at 98-5 in 12.5 overs against a charged-up USA bowling attack.

Interestingly, just as Azam Khan was making his way back to the pavilion, he was seemingly left enraged by a section of the crowd.

Azam Khan is yet to notch a single notable score for the Pakistan cricket team ever since he made his international debut back in 2021. The cricketer averages a mere nine with the bat despite making 14 T20I appearances, and his highest score remains the unbeaten 30 he punched out against Ireland last month at Dublin.

Despite Azam Khan’s failure on the day, Pakistan reached a competitive 159-7 by the completion of their 20 overs.

Captain Babar Azam and all-rounder Shadab Khan played starring roles with the bat while Shaheen Afridi clubbed a handy 16-ball 23* at the death.
