Rohit Sharma has been declared fit for India’s blockbuster 2024 T20 World Cup Group A match against Pakistan. The Indian skipper coped a blow on his bicep against Ireland, which subsequently prompted him to retired hurt.

According to a senior BCCI source, Sharma’s injury is not serious and he should be fit in time to face Pakistan on June 9 at New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.

Rohit Sharma fit, team to not file complain for pitch

Rohit Sharma scored an authoritative 37-ball 52* against Ireland in New York on June 5 before a bicep injury forced him to retire hurt. Fortunately for Team India, Sharma’s injury is not serious and he is expected to return to action to go up against Pakistan at the same venue on June 9, as confirmed by a BCCI source.

The source also confirmed that the Indian team management will not be filing any complain to the ICC in regards to the threat posed by the unused pitch at New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.

The playing surface at the Nassau County came under the scanner after India’s lop-sided win over Ireland, which featured uneven bounce and numerous body-blows to Rohit Sharma, Harry Tector and even unbeaten batter Rishabh Pant.

Regardless, the venue will also host the much-awaited 2024 T20 World Cup Group A match between perennial rivals India and Pakistan. The match will be played on June 9 and the action is slated to commence from 8:00 PM IST onwards.
